The DB introduced these signal in 1986.

Thus they are typical for era IV. In the meantime they have been superseded by the Ks-signals on new main lines (high speed lines).

They are still being installed on all other lines, mainly as replacements for older semaphore or daylight signals.

Note:

Compact signals are often installed mixed with other construction types (daylight signals) on main and branch lines. The

corresponding main signal to the distant signal repeater shown below is of the 1951 type.
