Trix 22883 Electric Locomotive Re 620
Model: With digital decoder and extensive sound functions. Controlled high-performance drive with flywheel, centrally installed. 4 axles (both axles in the two outer bogies) driven by cardan shafts. Traction tires. The triple headlights and 1 white marker light (Swiss light change) change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. The headlights on locomotive sides 2 and 1 can be separately switched off digitally. If the headlights on both sides of the locomotive are switched off, the double-A light functions on both sides. Lighting can be switched to 2 red marker lights. High-beam headlights, cab lighting and engine room lighting can also be controlled digitally. Maintenance-free warm white and red light-emitting diodes (LED) are used for the lighting. Attached ascent handles made of metal. Couplings can be exchanged for detailed front aprons. Passable minimum radius 360 mm. Length over the buffers 22.2 cm.
It was and is still something special - the Re 6/6 of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). For a long time it was considered the most powerful locomotive in the world and still holds this rating in Switzerland. This high output of 8,020 kW could of course only be accommodated on six axles, whereby the Bo'Bo'Bo 'wheel set, which is rather unusual for Central European conditions, was used to combine the appropriate traction with good running characteristics in curves. The middle bogie had to have a corresponding side play and the three bogies had to be connected to each other via elastic cross couplings. In 1969 SBB ordered four different prototypes from SLM (mechanical part) and BBC (electrical part). These four machines could be put into service until autumn 1972 and then tested extensively. After a final version began to emerge, SBB already ordered 45 Re 6/6 series locomotives from SLM / BBC on February 23, 1973. Delivery began in 1975, took two years to complete, and was completed in 1977. The delivery of the second series of 40 Re 6/6 (No. 11650 - 11689) took place from the end of 1977 to the end of 1980. From then on the heavy EC, IC and express trains as well as the heaviest freight trains with up to 1,600 tons were delivered to Gotthard and Simplon the domain of Re 6/6. This only changed from the turn of the millennium when all Re 6/6 were assigned to the new freight transport division SBB-Cargo until 2003. But it is still impressive today when a Re 6/6 struggles up the Gotthard ramp routes with a long freight train. Even more impressive is the so-called "Re 10/10", the double traction with a Re 4 / 4II and a Re 6/6, which is almost standard at least on the Gotthard route. The performance of this combination is only limited by the maximum load on the towing hook of 1,400 tonnes with a gradient of 26 per mille. Otherwise the two locomotives could drag a few hundred tons more over the mountain. Many train drivers swear by the ten driven axles and the proper weight, and they always prefer the nominally similarly powerful Bo'Bo 'double traction of the latest design. which is almost standard at least on the Gotthard route.
